Hudson Public Library

Hudson Public Library had outgrown its original website.

As the library expanded its programming, spaces, and community reach, the existing site no longer reflected the depth of services available or the experience patrons had inside the building. At the same time, the library wanted to preserve what mattered most: a welcoming, community-first feel that made the library approachable for all ages and abilities.

InkRiot led a full website redesign grounded in usability, accessibility, and long-term sustainability for library staff.

We developed a new earth-tone color palette inspired by the physical library space to create a warm, calm digital environment. From there, we rebuilt the site architecture, event systems, and reservation tools to ensure patrons could easily find, filter, and interact with the services that matter most to them.

WEBSITE DESIGN & VISUAL IDENTITY

We redesigned Hudson Public Library’s website to reflect its growth and evolving role in the community. A new earth-tone color palette inspired by the physical library space creates a calm, welcoming digital experience, supported by a refreshed logo and cohesive visual system across the site.

USER EXPERIENCE & NAVIGATION

The site architecture and navigation were restructured to help patrons quickly find services, programs, and resources. Clear menus, mobile-responsive layouts, and expanded pages showcase the full breadth of what the library offers, with usability top of mind for both patrons and staff.

CUSTOM EVENTS & RESERVATIONS

We built robust systems to support real-world library operations. This includes a custom events calendar with age-group color coding, advanced filters, registrations, waitlists, and reminders, along with a fully customized online room and space reservation system designed for ease of use on both the front and back end.

ACCESSIBILITY & ENGAGEMENT

Accessibility and inclusion were prioritized throughout the redesign, including continued use of accessiBe for ADA support. We also expanded community-focused features, adding an online feedback form and enhancing the Create HQ Makerspace with a blog, custom post types, and a patron project photo gallery.

InkRiot first built our website in 2020, and we’ve worked with them ever since to continue improving it as our library has grown. This year, we partnered with InkRiot to elevate the site so it better reflects the exciting growth happening inside the library and within the community we serve. We love the updated look of the site, but just as importantly, we love how well it works for our patrons and staff. Inkriot implemented online room reservations; an advanced events calendar with custom layouts, filters, waitlists, and reminders; accessibility tools; and custom content elements that make it easier for patrons to discover what the library offers. The updated design feels elevated and intentional while remaining warm and easy to use.
